

Grace Lee Boone Tate, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old. She and her late husband were entrepreneurs who founded Tate Bait Company in Norforlk, VA and Miracle Ear Hearing Aids in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a member of The Naval Auxillary Fleet Reserves. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge since 1962. She is survived by her daughter Carmen and husband Mike Cantwell, her son John Louis Tate, Jr., the cherished husband of her deceased daughter Bill Peters, eleven grandchildren and their spouses, nineteen great grandchildren and her two sisters, "the Boone girls", Betty Boone Gray and Louise Boone Searcy. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, her husband John Louis Tate, Sr., her daughter Elizabeth Tate Peters, and her great grandson James Monroe Tate, Jr. (Alden Scott Ashford). The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dale Karen Edwards and her caretakers Carol Thibodeaux, Jessica Comeaux and Gloria Harris, and the nurses of St. Joseph Hospice Palliative Care of Baton Rouge. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9am until service at 12pm, Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Life Celebration and luncheon immediately following at Greenoaks Reception Center. Pallbearers are Shane Wells, David Tate, James Tate, Paul Peters, Dustin Dowling, Ronnie Swinehart and Bill Peters.
