

Elizabeth W. Stevens our mother is now in the House of the Lord. She passed away quietly on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the age of 94. She was born November 3, 1920 to Archie and Blanche Newman Watson and married Roland S. Stevens, Sr. on October 20, 1940. Elizabeth came from humble beginnings and she and her husband Roland became staples of the Baton Rouge Business Community during the 66 years of their marriage. They raised five loving children. Elizabeth was a very devout Christian and loved her Lord dearly. She was actively involved in Istrouma Baptist, Goodwood Baptist and Parkview Baptist churches. She was also a member of many charitable and civic organizations including; Zonta Club of Baton Rouge, Krewe of Romany, A charter member of SYN Club, the Battered Woman's Center and many more. Elizabeth attended her first LSU football game at the age of 8 in 1928, and instantly became a Tiger Fan for life. Up until her death she was also known as the surrogate grandmother for the Lady Tiger Basketball Team. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roland Sidney Stevens Sr. and a grandson, Christopher J. Fickle, her 2 brothers, Archie J. and Hugh and sister, Mildred N. Watson. She is survived by; 3 sons and 2 daughters, Roland, Jr. and wife Frances Martin Stevens, Elizabeth Ann S. and husband Pressley L. Campbell, Michael L. and wife Dona Bruchhaus Stevens, William David ""Billy"" Stevens, all of Baton Rouge, Catherine Jane S. and husband John C. Hoyt of Katy, Texas. Grandchildren; Roland S. Stevens III, Frances Elizabeth Stevens, Jason Bonds all of Baton Rouge, Lynn F. ""Tiger"" Fickle, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Tracy C. Garay of Madison, Alabama, Mary Dawn S. Skinner of Destin, Florida, Catherine Hoyt Harrison of Woodbridge, Virginia, Rhonda Hoyt Roper of Katy, Texas and numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, December 15, 2014 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East 11000 Florida Blvd. starting at 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Visitation will resume Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Parkview Baptist Church starting at 10:00am until services at Noon, entombment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The Family would like to thank the caregivers at St. James Place for the kindness extended to our mother.
