Helen White Leigh passed peacefully at her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 23rd at the age of 90. She was born and raised in Monroe, Louisiana where she met her husband of 66 years, Benjamin Watkins Leigh, at a roller skating rink when she fell and he caught her. They continued supporting each other while raising their nine children. As an avid gardener, she enjoyed tending to her many flowers, including watching her children grow. Helen was known for her young spirit and abundance of patience. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Watkins Leigh, and children Marjorie Leigh, Thomas Edmund Leigh, and William Marshall Leigh. Helen is survived by her sister, Faye Wiley, her children Brenda Loyd, Benjamin Leigh, Keith Leigh, Kevin Leigh, Jason Leigh, and Elizabeth Kanth, as well as 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church at 12663 Perkins Road in Baton Rouge on Thursday, December 30th, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Donations can be made in Helen’s memory to St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Rabehnorst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
