
Jackie, a resident of Baton Rouge, died at 4:08 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's at Amber Terrace Retirement Community, she was 75. Jackie was born in Knoxville, TN, grew up in New Orleans and was a resident of Baton Rouge. She retired from Wright and Percy Insurance and was a former employee of Poise 'N Ivy and The Hardware Mutual Company of New Orleans, where she met her husband of 49 years Robert R. "Bob" LeBlanc. Jackie loved shopping, spending time with family, friends, and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and received the Gold Award in Culinary Excellence from William McGillicuddy of Ramada Inn. In her later years, Jackie enjoyed exercising with friends at Curves Fitness and volunteering for Sister Dulce. She never met a stranger. She is survived by two daughters, Virginia "Ginger" Cary and her husband, Todd W. Cary, and Deborah "Debbie" Mire; son, Stephen B. "Steve" LeBlanc, all of Baton Rouge and nine grandchildren; Cassidy H. Meeks and husband Rev. J. Scott Meeks, Christopher T. Mire and fiancee' Meredith M. Bercegay, Brandon T. Cary, Rebecca J. Cary, Caroline L. Cary, Jonathan W. Cary, S. Bryan LeBlanc Jr., Myles C. LeBlanc, Leah M. LeBlanc and two great grandchildren, Jagger J. Meeks and Braxton K. Mire; a brother John J. Hecker and partner William H. "Bill" Klass of Washington, D.C.; brother-in-law Milton J. Leblanc and wife Shirley of New Orleans. She is preceded in death by her parents, John J. Hecker and Vera Minx Hecker, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joissant and Jeanne Alanzo LeBlanc all of New Orleans; and four brothers-in-law, Alfred J. LeBlanc, Cleophas J. "Lucky" LeBlanc, Eugene J. "Gene" LeBlanc and Roy J. LeBlanc; Sister-in-law, Verlin Nielsen Trosclair all of New Orleans. Pallbearers will be Braxton Mire, Brandon Cary, Jonathan Cary, Bryan LeBlanc, Myles LeBlanc, and Scott Meeks. Honorary pallbearers are Milton LeBlanc, Bill Klass, Jef Faucheux and John Crifasi. Our forever heartfelt gratitude goes out to Rev. Sam Maranto, the staff at Amber Terrace Retirement Community, Clarity Hospice, and her truly "Earthly Angels", her forever dearest caretakers! In lieu of flowers, memorial mass intentions or memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area. Visitation at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 15615 Old Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Phil Spano, celebrant.
