
He passed away Friday, April 11, 2008, in Baton Rouge. He was the husband of Betty Neely Clemett, father of Margaret Rose Schoolar, Joseph Michael Clemett, Rose Marie Coleman and Mary Katherine Gardner, of Austin, Texas, son of John Arthur Clemett and Helen Marie Plenus, of New York, stepfather of Robert Mark Stephens, Ramona Stephens Notinger, Rebecca Charlotte Stephens, and Cynthia Eileen Stephens, grandfather of Maxwell Schoolar, Samantha Schoolar, Henry Thomas Gardner, Andrea Franks Coleman, Ruben James Coleman and Zachary Clemett, stepgrandfather of Jason Michael Hood, Justin Wesley McCullough, Jessica Eileen McCullough, Robert Dana Benson, Katherine Quirk, Marcus Alen Storey, James Franklin Storey, Michael Notinger and Melanie Notinger, and stepgreat-grandfather of Jacob Ethan McCullough, Audrey Katelyn Hood, Aubrey Quirk and Jack Higginbotham. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1936, retired as a U.S. Army major with 20 years of service and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four service stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. He was a graduate of University of Texas, Austin, with a bachelor's degree in journalism and retired from the U.S. Department of Labor, Washington, D.C. He was a lifetime golfer. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, April 15, from 11 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m. in the chapel, conducted by a U.S. Army chaplain. Interment with military honors in Port Hudson National Cemetery.
