

James R. Dysart passed away on January 26th suddenly from complications of a stroke. Jim was surrounded by his wife, children, brothers and sisters. He was born January 4, 1948, to Paul B and Tiny Dysart. He was the second of five children. Jim graduated from Istrouma High School class of 1965 and received his B. S. degree from LSU in 1971. Jim purchased his first Baskin Robbins store in August 1970 and continued working until his death. Jim was an active member of Tipmasters since 1977 and enjoyed coffee at 7am several days a week with his brothers and friends at CC Coffee House on Airline Highway. During the early years, Jim thoroughly loved going down to Cocodrie, La., fishing with his son and brothers. More recently, he loved tending to his plants around the house and working at his property in Watson riding his tractor or walking through the woods. Jim is preceded in death by his son James Paul Dysart, his parents, and his mother-in-law Edna Honea. Jim is survived by his wife Karen (Kay) Honea Dysart, daughter Kristin Dysart, son and daughter-in-law Marc Dysart and Kayla Dicharry Dysart, brothers Paul E. Dysart and wife Carmel, John B Dysart and sisters Theresa Dysart Halverson, and Deborah Dysart Rogers and husband Greg. There are many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and many close personal friends who will miss him tremendously. Jim's quiet nature and kindheartedness will be remembered by all who knew him. Visitation for Jim will be Sunday, January 28th, from 5pm-8pm and Monday from 11am - 12pm and the funeral service will be held Monday, January 29th, at 12noon at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, with graveside immediately following.
