James Richard Forbes

James R. Forbes passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the age of 85. He was a native of Central, LA, and was a resident of both Baton Rouge, LA and Denham Springs, LA. He graduated from Central High School in 1954 then served in the USAF for four years, where he was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. After returning, James began his career at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, retiring after 26 years of service. During his tenure at LADOTD, he served on the board of directors for the LADOTD Federal Credit Union. James is survived by his son, Stanley Forbes (Ramona); grandsons, Kyle (Alison) and Chase Forbes; great-grandson, Austin; and brother, Billy Forbes. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Forbes; parents, Henry and Julia Forbes; brothers, Harold, Carroll and Donald Forbes; and sister, Rebecca Forbes. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 10:00am until the time of funeral services at 2:00pm. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tiara Gibbs (Paw Paw’s sidekick), for her loving care and devotion she gave to James.
