James Eric Frye, 58, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away on May 2, 2023 surrounded by family after battling Frontotemporal Dementia. Eric, as he was known by friends and family, was born on August 6, 1964 in Jackson, Tennessee to Earl and Helen Frye. Survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Tanya; sons, Matthew Joseph Frye, wife Serena and David Warren Frye; sisters, Debbie Chapman husband Billy and Gayle Cazes husband Walter and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Helen Frye; brother Richard Earl Frye (Rick); sister Jeanne Leigh Frye; and his precious baby boys James Eric Frye, Jr. (Little Eric), and Aaron Jacob Frye. A plumber by trade for over 40 years, he was generous, reliable, and exercised great integrity. From an early age Eric had a great love of sports and the great outdoors, but nothing brought him greater joy than the joy he found in raising his sons. Nothing could keep him from the many long days and weekends at baseball watching them play. When they weren't at the field, they were practicing at home in the backyard. Eric also had a special bond with his nephew, Jason Betz, who he considered more of a little brother than a nephew. Throughout Eric's battle, Jason spent many hours bringing Eric comfort and care. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Heart of Hospice for all their care and kindness. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life to be held on Saturday, May 13 from 2pm-5pm at 5825 Elmgrove Rd. Port Allen, LA 70767. To carry on Eric's love of sports, guests are encouraged to wear LSU purple and gold.
