"Our precious son, James Randolph "Jack" Gray passed away on Wednesday, January 4th at his home in Baton Rouge, LA. Jack was 20 years old on October 30. He attended St. James Episcopal Day School and University High School. Jack was a gifted singer, songwriter, and guitarist. As a child, he enjoyed duck hunting and dirt bike riding with his dad, as well as football, baseball, tennis, swimming, and track, and was an exceptional student. Jack started using recreational drugs early in high school as a coping mechanism for anxiety, which led to heavier drugs and an addiction that he fought for 3 years. Jack was loved by all who knew him and he touched many lives in so many ways. He had a sweet, kind heart, a beautiful spirit, an inquisitive mind, and compassion for everyone. He loved his family deeply and is now our angel in heaven. Jack is survived by his parents James Randolph "Randy" Gray, Jennifer "Jenny" Gauthier Gray, and his younger sister Melinda Gray, his grandparents William "Billy" and Nita Gauthier, Judy Vernon and John "Pete" Gray; uncle/aunt William "Billy" and Cindy Gauthier and their children William Gauthier, Catherine Gauthier, Andrew Gauthier and Mary Elizabeth Gauthier; uncle/aunt Norman "Skipper" and Vergie Gray and their son and daughter in law Kobe and Kelly Gray. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9th, 9:30 to 11:00am at Our Lady of Mercy Church. The service will begin 11:00 to 11:30am with reception following in the PAC across from the church. In lieu of flowers, the Gray family would appreciate contributions to help offset expenses of Jack's rehabilitation treatment, and/or please share a written personal memory of Jack as a keepsake for the family.
