

James (Jimmy) L. Harvey, October 27, 1935 - June 20, 2024. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jimmy L. Harvey, 88, who peacefully departed from this world on June 20, 2024. Born on October 27, 1935, Jimmy was a remarkable man whose life was a testament to integrity, work, family, being in nature, and cooking then sharing food. His parents, Dorothy and George Harvey, raised him alongside his younger brother, Robert Harvey. Growing up he would spend time learning his excellent work ethic at his father's gas station. Jimmy met then married the love of his life, Marlene, at Church. They were together for 69 years. Jimmy was a loving and devoted husband to Marlene Harvey and a cherished father to Tara Harvey-Gros, Darryl Harvey, Holly Harvey Murtaugh and Tory Harvey. Jimmy loved and appreciated his sons-in-law, Sonny Gros and John Murtaugh. His love extended to his grandchildren Darlene Bellers along with her husband Chad Bellers, to Julia Murtaugh-Zimmerman along with her husband Jake Zimmerman, and Philip Murtaugh along with his wife Marie Murtaugh. Jimmy truly loved and appreciated his great grandchildren Rachael, Carson, and Zachary Bellers as well as Sophia Murtaugh. Jimmy has a devoted and loved extended family. Jimmy demonstrated high standards and unwavering ethics with his devotion to his long career at Gulf States Utilities. Upon retirement from Gulf States Utilities, he enjoyed many more years working for Rabenhorst Funeral Home. Jimmy was an avid Louisiana Sportsman in every way. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and everything LSU. Jimmy's legacy of joy for life will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, curiosity, and love that will continue to inspire us all. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all those who have been supportive over the years of Jimmy's gradual decline. A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held on June 29th, 2024 from 12 - 2 at Harvest Manor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, 839 North Range Ave, Denham Springs, LA 70726. Family and friends are invited. Though he is no longer with us, Jimmy's spirit will forever remain in our hearts. His love and memories will continue to guide us, bringing us comfort and strength in the days ahead. Rest in peace, dear Jimmy. You will be deeply missed and fondly remembered always.
