
A retired shift engineer with Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Corp., he died at his home with his family by his side at 4 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007. He was 86 and a resident and native of St. Francisville. He was U.S. Army veteran, having served in the 110th Regiment, 28th Division. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Chris Andrews. Interment in Star Hill Cemetery, St. Francisville. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Henrietta Ferguson Harvey; three daughters,_June M. Harvey, and Susan H. Wymore and husband Terry, all of St. Francisville, and Mary H. Bateman and husband Dewitt, of Baton Rouge; three sons, James H. and wife Ginger, and Bobby D. and wife Anita, all of St. Francisville, and David R. and wife Joy of Mandeville; 21 grandchildren, Becky Posey and husband Fred, Alison Gifford and husband John, James Abram Harvey II, Ashley L. Harvey, Kristi Murray and husband Mack, Jason R. Harvey and wife Sandy, Melissa Gostisha and husband Jay, David, Jr., John Christian and Peter Harvey, Bo, Kathleen and Betsy Thornhill, Jacob, Bryan, Quinton and Ian Wymore and Zachary, Emily, Jonathan and Benjamin Bateman; and eight great-grandchildren, Claudia and Maddie Beth Posey, Meg, Henri Kate and Sam Gifford and Kyle, Christopher and Megan Murray. Preceded in death by his parents, Victor James and Florence Lloyd Harvey; sisters, Eunice Harvey Methvin and Thelma Harvey Olinde: and brothers, Lawrence Jerome, Edward L., Clyde A. and Victor H. Harvey; and infant grandsons, Joshua and Joseph Wymore; and lifelong friend, Walter R. "Bo" Jones. Pallbearers will be James Abram II, Jason R., David R. Jr. and John Christian Harvey, Bo Thornhill, Jacob and Bryan Wymore and Zachary Bateman. Honorary pallbearers_are_Bill Wood, Fernin Eaton, Walter R. "Pete" Jones, Ken Jones, Paul Keith "Scoop" Jones, Carl Metz, Julius Metz, Richard Navarre, James Ford Harvey, Russell Daniel and his many devoted nephews. He graduated from Julius Freyhan High School, where he was voted most athletic, member of Boy Scouts and a Scout leader, and a member of the American Legion and Romeo Club. He enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He had a knack for design and carpentry and enjoyed creating useful things from his ideas. He especially enjoyed designing and building boats.
