
A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Montpelier, he passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. Houston was 92 and a retired accountant for the Louisiana Department of Public Safety. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Katie Bond Morgan; son and daughter-in-law, James H. "Chuck" Morgan III and Pam Smith Morgan, of Baton Rouge; sister, Norrine Bond, of Metairie; and nieces, Jacqueline Juneau and Mary Lynn Jackson. Preceding him in death were his parents, Jack Morgan Sr. and Nannie E. Morgan; and brother, Mike Lamar Morgan. He graduated from Gulf Coast Military Academy in 1933 and attended Tulane University. He was a longtime member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, a Coast Guard veteran of World War II and the American Legion. Brother Morgan was a 60-year member of Trinity Union Lodge 372, F&AM, Baton Rouge Scottish Rite Bodies, a 33rd degree IGH and a member of Acacia Shrine Temple. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Tuesday, June 8, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Visiting at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 9755 Goodwood Blvd., Wednesday, June 9, from 12:30 p.m. until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Jarrett Banks. Entombment in Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be nephews, Charles Pettiss and Carey Jackson; great-nephews, Donald Juneau, Stephen Pettiss and Daniel Jackson; and cousin, Steve Grantham. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers, Emma Turner, Linda Jones, and Sylvia Hamilton.
