James R. Sylvester “Bob” passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the age of 85. He was a native of Whiteville, LA, and a resident of Watson, LA. Bob was a wonderful husband and an awesome father. He never met a stranger and always a smile on his face. Bob was a very complimentary person, and he always had something nice to say. He was a spontaneous traveler, to the extent of waking his children up in the middle of the night to go somewhere. He was an assertive go-getter and did everything in life to the fullest. Bob loved being outside in the sun and working in his garden. He enjoyed LSU sports while eating his Little Debbie cakes. Above all, Bob cherished the time he spent with his family and friends and was affectionately known as SOB…Sweet Ol’ Bob. He will be truly and deeply missed by anyone who had the privilege to know him. Although he’s no longer here with us, we know he’s happy to be back with the love of his life forever. Bob is survived by his daughter, Debbie Alleman (Ronnie); grandchildren, Simon Alleman (Trista), Derek Alleman, Darin Alleman, Eric Sylvester (Jose), Brad Sylvester (Maegan), and Tyler Sylvester; great-grandchildren, Kirby Alleman, Mia Sylvester, Jax Sylvester, and Marli Sylvester; daughters-in-law, Stacy Sylvester, and Lynn Sylvester; and a host of other loving family members and friends, especially Phil, Joe, and Larry. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Marie; sons, James, Jerry, and Russell Sylvester; brothers, Irvin, Paul, Roy, and Glen Sylvester; parents, Ulysses and Dorsena Sylvester; and other family members and friends. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 11am until the time of funeral services at 2pm. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.greenoaksfunerals.com
