
James Leander Thibodeaux passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the age of 82, after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Lewisburg, LA. James attended Redemptorist High School and graduated in 1959, after he graduated he attended LSU. He worked for the Department of Public Safety and also owned his own bookkeeping and income tax business. He served on the LA Cap Federal Credit Union Board for 31 years and 22 years as the Board Treasurer. He loved watching the LSU tiger football team and was a season ticket holder for 50 years and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids especially at school and sporting events. James is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Nettles Thibodeaux; daughters, Renee Thibodeaux Bourgeois, Kim Thibodeaux Ward (Terry Amey), Dana Thibodeaux Lee (Chris); grandchildren, Kenneth “Austin” Ward, Garrett James Ward, Ashley Renee Ward, David Alexander Ward, Annalane Louise Lee, Audrey Marie Lee, and William “Weston” Lee; sister, Glenda Thibodeaux Cheek; brothers John C. Thibodeaux (Suzy), and Ronald G. Thibodeaux (Joel); nieces, Cindy Thibodeaux, Tina Thibodeaux Mroski, Denise Thibodeaux Rodgers, Brandi Boudreaux Putnam, Lahri Nettles Gentry and Cristi Nettles Williams; and nephews, Johnny Thibodeaux, Randy Thibodeaux, Blane Boudreaux, and Blake Boudreaux. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Dorothy Vidrine Thibodeaux; son, William Alexander Thibodeaux; niece, Julie Thibodeaux; and nephew, Roddy John Boudreaux, Jr. In lieu of flowers please make donations in James name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Visitation will be held at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 5354 Plank Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70805, on Saturday February 24, 2024 at 11 AM with a Memorial Mass to follow at 12 PM. A reception will follow at Seelos Hall next to the church.
