

He is survived in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Gloria Migues Toney, son Michael Toney (Tracy Bonadona) and daughter Cynthia Toney-Hadden and husband John Edward Hadden Jr. ,grandchildren Andrew Toney and wife Krystal Lynn, Samantha Lynn Matt, Michael Toney Jr, Jason Bonadona, Courtney Bonadona ,great grandsons James Edward Toney and William Duane Toney. Jim is also survived by sister Anita Keider and her husband Mike and Nephew Stephen and Niece Michelle.
Jim was preceded in death by parents James Toney SR. and Marie Becnel Toney.
After a brief stint in the Army, Jim began his career at Exxon. He worked there for 34 years and retired as a Mechanical Supervisor.
While in high school Jim met the love of his life, Gloria Migues Toney when he ran his convertible into her car! Following their marriage, Jim and Gloria moved to Baton Rouge and their family grew to include their cherished children Michael and Cyndi . Jim was known for his quick sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye. He never missed a celebration with family and his many friends. Retirement years were spent with Gloria enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim and Gloria traveled extensively, visiting four European countries and fifteen states.
Jim loved quaint antiques shops, giant jambalaya pots, his recreational vehicle, the Catholic Mass, and Exxon memorabilia. Beyond all else, he dearly loved his family. We will miss and remember him always. His last and greatest adventure was to Alaska where he and Gloria witnesses the birth of their second great grandchild.
Visitation will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14041 Greenwell Springs, LA, on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA.
