

"Janet McKnight was a devoted wife of 46 years, a loving and selfless mother, an amazing grandmother and a wonderful friend to so many. She loved her Lord and Savior. She was a devoted school teacher in East Baton Rouge and Ascension parishes for 37 years, Janet Williams McKnight passed away peacefully at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital at 1:45 pm on Friday, July 21, 2017. A native and resident of Baton Rouge, she was 68 years old. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East Chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Monday, July 24, from 5 pm until 8 pm and will resume on Tuesday, July 25, from 9 am until religious services at 11 am conducted by Brother Tommy French. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Janet is survived by her husband , Charles McKnight; daughter, Windy McKnight (Peter Thurlow); son, Matthew McKnight; sister, Judy Barberelis; brother, Howard "Dan" Williams; and five grandchildren, Drew, Annmarie and Preston Alessi, and Peyton and Pearson Thurlow. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Williams and mother, Gracie Watkins Williams. Pallbearers will be Drew and Preston Alessi, Austin and Chris McKnight, Blake and Todd Williams. Her five grandchildren were her greatest blessings. She was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church.
