Janice (TeeDee) Lynn Dimattia, 79, of Prairieville, Louisiana passed away on June 10, 2024. She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 7, 1944. Visitation and Celebration of Life will be Monday, June 17, 2024 from 5-7pm and on Tuesday, June 18 from 10-11am, followed by a memorial service at 11am, all at Greenoaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA, 70815.
Janice graduated from Baton Rouge High School, pursued an associate degree in nursing from Baton Rouge Vocational Technical School, and worked as a licensed practical nurse in pediatric medicine. She then decided to stay home and lovingly nurture her three children. She was a caring and giving daughter, mother, Maw Maw, wife, sister and friend who truly esteemed the needs of others greater than those of herself. She was a wonderful Italian/Cajun home cook who served and fed many, with her meatball recipe probably being the most beloved. She enjoyed living on the river, gardening, fishing, playing cards, and watching television and movies. She dedicated time to ministering to women and teaching them to grow their faith in home Bible studies. Her greatest passion was sharing with others the simplicity of salvation through faith in Jesus.
Janice is survived by her children, Lauren Butler Britt, MD of Birmingham, AL and Randall John Butler of Kingwood, TX; her grandchildren Jacob Britt, MD, Anna Britt, Julia Britt Parrish, William Britt, JoAnn Mabry, Sydney Butler, Justin Butler, Jonathan Butler, Kelsey Walker Galvan, Dillon Walker, and Dalton Walker; her great grandchild Reid Galvan; her sister Germaine Sampere and brother Phillip Dimattia, Jr.
Janice was preceded in death by her son Darren Everett Butler; her husband Roy Walker; her former husband John Everett Butler III; her father Phillip Dimattia, Sr. and her mother Lucille Maggio Dimattia.
In Lieu of flowers, Janice desired that donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project, a veteran’s charity she supported during her life.
