Jerry Alfred Forbes

Jerry A. Forbes passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at 7:37 pm, on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. He was 79 years old, a resident of Zachary, and a native of Pride. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Picard Forbes, of 57 wonderful years, two daughters, Sherry F. Laurent and husband Wayne, and Penny S. Forbes. He is blessed with grandchildren Joshua Callegan and wife Elizabeth, Codie C. Brian and husband Wendell, Emily, Katie, and Louis Laurent, Amy Redden and fiancé Blake Albarez, and April Redden. He is also blessed with great-grandchildren, Jacob George and Audrey Ann Callegan, Shelbie and Tyler Brian, Molly Marie May, and Rylee Albarez. He is survived by his siblings, Carl Forbes and wife Marlene, Roberta F. Kelly and husband George, and Raymond Forbes and wife Martha. He was a retired Electrical Inspector with the East Baton Rouge City Parish. He served as Sergeant in the US Army. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pride Ward, where he served faithfully. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert F. and Pearl Kelly Forbes, a sister, Jewel Faye Forbes Cooper, and grandchildren, Jacob Anthony Callegan and Molly Sue Laurent. Visitation will be Monday, July 14, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pride Ward, 16135 Milldale Road in Zachary from 9am -12pm with Religious Services at 12pm, conducted by Bishop Mark Rotollo, interment to follow in Church Cemetery immediately following.
