
Jesse Furr Scoggin, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Picayune, Miss., died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Hospice of Baton Rouge. She was 90 and a member of First Presbyterian Church. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Sunday, March 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation at First Presbyterian Church on Monday, March 2, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dick Gates officiating. Entombment in Lane Mausoleum at Greenoaks Memorial Park, under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband, Joe F. Scoggin, of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Martha Ann McMullan Martin, of Prairieville, and Jeannene McMullan Kogler, of Baton Rouge; four sisters, Christine Carsley, of Madison, Miss., Iva Loy Chambers, of Hattiesburg, Miss., Thomasine Blackwell, of Sherman, Texas, and Charleen Schrock, of Picayune, Miss.; a brother, David A. Furr, of Monroe; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Ryals Furr and Ruby Thornhill Furr; and a brother, John B. Furr. Pallbearers will be Dick Fox, David Price, Fred Gowdy, John Weld, Joe Richard and Richard Morris. Honorary pallbearers are Selser Picket, Jimmy Schmidt, Frank Slipher and Gary Warrington. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Hospice of Baton Rouge or Cancer Services of Baton Rouge.
