

A native and resident of Baton Rouge, she passed away at 6:45 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2007, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor. She was 89 and a former elementary school teacher at St. Gerard Majella and St. Pius X Catholic schools. Visitation at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd., on Wednesday, June 27, from 10:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, with the Rev. Monsignor William Greene, celebrant. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. She is survived by her sons, Willard Brian Babin and his wife, Linda Babin, of Baton Rouge, and Louis Randolph Babin and his wife, Janie Babin, of Beaumont, Texas; brother, Adrian F. Arceneaux of French Settlement; four grandchildren, Stephanie Babin Carroll and her husband, Kenneth Andrew Carroll, of New Orleans, Scott Brian Babin and his wife, Melanie McCarty Babin, of Louisville, Ky., David Randolph Babin and his wife, Lynn Phaling Babin, of Tampa, Fla., and Brent Patrick Babin and his wife, Lisa McCormick Babin, of Austin, Texas; two stepgrandchildren, Lori Ann Hyatt and Holly Leigh Hyatt, both of Baton Rouge; 10 great-grandchildren, Charles and William Carroll, Christian, Brandt and Braeden Babin, Alicia, Eric and Caroline Babin and Bryce and Grant Babin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Adrian F. Arceneaux, Scott Brian Babin, David Randolph Babin, Brent Patrick Babin, Kenneth Andrew Carroll and Leven LeJeune. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Elmo Babin; sister and brother-in-law, Thelma Kermith "Dena" Watson and Virgil A. Watson; brother and sister-in-law, Louis A. "Bud" Arceneaux Jr. and Shirley A. Lambert Arceneaux; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Burns Babin. She was a member of St. Thomas More Church, where she was also a choir member.She was a member of the Exxon Annuitants Club, a graduate of Istrouma High School and a graduate of LSU, where she earned her degree in music. She enjoyed painting china and working on needle crafts with her friends. Special thanks to the staff at The Haven.
