

JoAnn McCutcheon Anthon passed away peacefully at her home in Baton Rouge, LA, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the age of 73. She was born on February 15, 1945, in Clinton, LA, to the late Bessie Ellis and Henry Leslie McCutcheon, Sr. and grew up in Baton Rouge, LA. She was married for 51 years to her childhood sweetheart, Wayne Anthon. JoAnn graduated from Istrouma High School in 1963 before devoting herself to raising a family, a lifelong career at which she excelled as both Mom and Grammy. She was a member of Istrouma Baptist Church. Wayne and JoAnn enjoyed traveling all across the country in their motor home and were blessed to share those adventures with the extended family. She was an avid reader, especially of the newspaper, and could always be counted on as a keeper of family history and memories. She is survived by her husband, Wayne; three daughters, Elizabeth Anthon, Amanda Gremillion and husband, Blake, and Allison Anthon; grandchildren, Ryan and Claire Gremillion; brother-in-law, Ronald Anthon; two sisters-in-law, Bobbye McCutcheon and Pat McCutcheon McAdams; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, H. L. "Sonny" McCutcheon and Frank D. McCutcheon; nephew, Richard McCutcheon; and great-great nephews, Jon Andrew and Michael James Bell. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00PM to 9:00PM at Istrouma Baptist Church, 10500 Sam Rushing Dr., Baton Rouge, LA, and will resume on Friday from 9:00AM until the time of funeral service at 11:00AM. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge, LA.
