JoAnn Auter Stevenson, 83, was born on December 15, 1937, in Baton Rouge, LA, and passed away on March 29, 2021, in Kenner, LA. JoAnn graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1955 and Northwestern State University in 1960. Throughout her life she was involved with the Girl Scouts of America, Rainbow Girls, Future Nurses of America, and Daughters of the Oasis. She worked for Baton Rouge General Hospital and St. James Place as an RN, as well as spent time at Hancock Fabrics. JoAnn greatly enjoyed needlepoint, reading, and snuggling with her furbabies: Satchmo, Baxter, Morgan, Peach, and Beanie. She is survived by her son, William Charles Auter Stevenson of Kenner, and his partner, Jeremy Brown; adopted son, Bruce Pizzolato of Metairie; adopted daughter, Dr. Cathy McElveen (Dr. Alan Del Castillo) of Montrose, CA; adopted granddaughters, Catherine, Corinne, and Dahlia Del Castillo; and many cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, William Richard Auter, and mother, Vivian Graf Auter. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East from 9 am until service at 1 pm, conducted by Fr. Jeff Bayhi. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will consist of Richard Bahm, Timothy Bahm, Jeremy Brown, Bruce Pizzolato, Richard McGovern, Brian Plauche, Richard Borne, and Glen Miller. Honorary bearers include Brother Francis Fleming, S.C., and Princess Stephaney (Danny Starnes). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family wishes to thank Chateau Living Center of Kenner and St Catherine’s of Laplace for the care that they gave JoAnn in the final months of her life.
