Joanna V. Maggio

Joanna Maggio, a native of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully at 5:45pm on Saturday March 10, 2012 at Lane Nursing Home. She would have turned 89 on June 4th. She is retired from Wright & Percy Insurance after 63 years of service. She spent countless hours sharing of herself in her vocation of Nursing Home Ministries with Our Lady of Mercy Church. Visitation will be held March 12, 2012 at Greenoaks Funeral Home from 5pm to 8pm, and on Tuesday March 13, 2012 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Av from 9am to 10:30am, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Burial will take place at Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by her only son Vincent R Maggio, Jr. and wife Kathy Barry Maggio; grandchildren, Trey and Hannah Maggio; sister in law, Joy Vaccaro; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent R Maggio, Sr., father Nick Vaccaro; mother, Bena Vaccaro; brother, Mario Vaccaro, Sr., and brother, Samuel Vaccaro; sister in law, Margaret Vaccaro. She will be missed by all who passed her way. She will best be remembered by the smile she always had on her face. Donations may be made to Friends Helping Kids, Inc., P.O.
