
"John A. Blanchard, Jr., a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Walker, he passed away at his home on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at the age of 80. He was a retired civil engineer with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, with more than 30 years of service. He was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School, class of 1957. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3331, and was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 865 Hatchell Lane, Denham Springs, from 9:30 am until funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn H. Blanchard; 4 children: Mona Parker and her husband Martin, Dina Blanchard, Lisa Blanchard, and John C. Blanchard and his fiancé, Christy Papa; 5 grandchildren: Christopher Long and wife Sheri, Elizabeth Long and her fiancé Jordy Allen, Matthew Parker, Joseph Parker, and Phoebe Blanchard; his brother, Bobby Blanchard and his wife Gwen; and his sister Ellen Witcraft. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alton John Blanchard, Sr. and Sylvia White Blanchard; and his grandson, Carey Spenser Blanchard. Serving as Pallbearers will be Christopher Long, Jordy Allen, Matthew Parker, Joseph Parker, Bobby Wayne Blanchard, and Bart White.
