
John passed away on the evening of July 17 just after sunset. He was born in Baton Rouge to John and Wyleta West Constantine. He spent his childhood boating and fishing with his father and playing on the banks of Alexander Creek at his grandparent’s house in St. Francisville, LA. After graduating from Baton Rouge High School, he enrolled in the US Navy and served his country during the Korean War. He received his degree in chemistry from Louisiana State University and continued with a professional career in chemical engineering and industrial sales. John's favorite pastimes included golfing, boating, sharing a good meal with friends and family and traveling the open road on vacations and business. A devoted family man, he valued spending time with his children, grandchildren and extended family members. John’s final years were spent coping with a prolonged illness, however he found a renewed passion for life and family with his two grandchildren, William Robins and Sarah Katherine Conger. He is survived by his children, John Ashton Constantine, Alexander Robins Constantine, Madeleine Constantine Conger, and William Talmadge Conger; his former wife, Gail Robins O'Quin; his grandchildren, William Robins Conger and Sarah Katherine Conger; his brother, William West Constantine; his beloved niece and nephew, Candice Constantine Roddy and William West Constantine, Jr., Shannon Constantine and Joshua Constantine. In accordance with John's last wishes, a private graveside service will be held for immediate family, however the family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during his final years and days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration of donations to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center or St. Joseph Hospice Foundation's Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, as these facilities provided him with excellent service and care in the last years and days of his life.
