
John Burg "J.B" Ferry, beloved husband of Colleen Cassidy Ferry, died after an extended battle with pancreatic cancer at his home in Baton Rouge on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009. He was 74. The son of David S. Ferry Sr. and Camille Burg Ferry, he was born in Shreveport and raised in New Orleans. He graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. After graduating from LSU in 1959, he began a lifelong career in the provision of fire and safety equipment in the United States and abroad. He was president of Delta Safety&Fire Consultants in Houma. In 1983, he established Safety and Fire Consultants in Baton Rouge. He was an active community member in both Houma and Baton Rouge, where he was a parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Colleen Cassidy Ferry; two daughters, Colleen Ferry Peroyea and her husband, Joseph Gregory Peroyea, and Stephanie Ferry Hardy; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth M. Peroyea and John M. Hardy. He is also survived by siblings, David S. Ferry Jr. and Camille Ferry Bourg Keyes. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Ferry Bourg. Visitation will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from noon until rosary at 12:45 p.m. and a funeral Mass at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center or the Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation.
