John E. Forrest

John E. Forrest passed away January 22, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born in Jerome, Arizona. He lived in the Panama Canal Zone for 12 years and then relocated to Louisiana at the age of 18 and resided in Baton Rouge.

John worked at the Boilermakers Local Union 582 and owned his own Lawn Care business. He was a man of his word and lived with a pure heart of gold. He loved to read and study his bible. He always carried his bible with him whether he was fishing, traveling or even short trips to Harbor Freight. He enjoyed caring for his cows and was present when his very first calf was born and named her Genises. He enjoyed taking his boat out on fishing trips with daughters and grandsons and watching all types of sports.

He was preceded in death by his father John W. Forrest, mother Ethel Fryoux, stepmother Lydia Forrest; daughters Carol Celeste Cahill and Susan Denise Forrest; sister Wyolene Fleishman and brother Earnest Forrest; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends that he cherished deeply.

He is survived by his wife Jonnie R. Forrest of 67 years; sister in-law, LaDonna Forrest; daughter, Karen Lynn Forrest (Ty Thomas); son in-law, Patrick Cahill; grandsons, Christian John Cahill, Robert Patrick Cahill, Canaan Ty Thomas, and Seth Troy Thomas; great granddaughters Scottie Lynn Thomas and Stella Michael Thomas; along with nephews, Ronnie Forrest, Terry Forrest, Kelly Forrest and Wayne Forrest.

Funeral will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Baton Rouge. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on February 1, 2025, and services starting at 11:00 by Pastor Kenny Kepper. Burial will follow at Azalea Rest Cemetery in Zachary, La.

The family wants to thank all nurses and aids at Heart of Hospices and the home nurse aid that provided loving care.
