John R. McPherson

A loving and devoted husband, daddy, son, brother, son-in-law, uncle, brother-in-law and friend, John Raymond McPherson left this Earth at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008, to be with the Lord. John, 45, was born Sept. 5, 1962, in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. He grew up in Los Angeles and Newcomers Town, Ohio, then his family moved to Baton Rouge, where John graduated from Woodlawn High School and LSU. At age 20, John opened up his home construction company, Custom Homes by McPherson. John also worked for Williams Petroleum in Geismar for 15 years. Through the years, John became known as a premier builder in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas. John built more than 200 homes. John was a recent recipient of the Good Growth Coalition Award for his new development, Lexington, which he named after his daughters, and the streets are named after his wife and daughters. For the past two years, Custom Homes by McPherson has donated the property for the Children's Miracle homes to be built. John is survived by the loves of his life, wife, Aimee Robin Lucius McPherson; and daughters, Alexis Blair, 15, and Carrington Brooke, 8. John was preceded in death by his father, John Raymond McPherson. John also leaves his mother, Maria Teresa "Mach" Munoz McPherson, of Merida; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Judy Lucius, Baton Rouge; brother, Norman and wife Belkis McPherson, Cancun, Mexico; sisters and brothers-in-law, Machita and Henry Eyre, Baton Rouge, and Rosy and Tom McDonald, Tampa, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Nina Eyre Bliley and husband Jay Bliley, New York, Marisa Eyre, Baton Rouge, Trey and Mark Eyre, both of Baton Rouge, Kelsey and Claire McDonald, Tampa, and Norman John and George McPherson, both of Cancun; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alan and Paige Colby and Adrian and Jill Miceli, all of Baton Rouge; and nieces and nephews, Caroline and Jacob Colby and Courtney and Aidan Miceli, all of Baton Rouge. Johnny Mac also leaves his many friends. John lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed spending time and vacationing with family and friends. His favorite pastime was boating at his camp on the Diversion Canal. Donations may be made to the Children's Miracle Network in honor of John. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, May 23, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road, on Saturday, May 24, from 9:30 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. There are no words to describe how much we love this man "¦ .
