John Rusty Ward

Rusty left this world peacefully on Thursday March 15th at 12:40 a.m., at the age of 53. As a self employed painter of 25 years, he enjoyed all of the joys of life as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a resident of Simmesport, LA and a native of New Roads, LA.

Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA on Monday March 19, 2012 from 5pm until 9pm and resume on Tuesday March 20, 2012 from 8am until servive at 12:00pm, conducted by Pastor Timmy Straight. Interment will follow in Chenal Cemetery. Rusty is survived by his best friend and soul mate, his wife of 31 years, LaLa Ward; his daughter and son-in-law, Cassy and Ronnie Martin of Denham Springs; his son and daughter-in-law, James and Sharon Ward of Saint Francisville; and his 10 beloved grandchildren, Memorie, Reese, Ronnie, Riley and Nicholas Martin; Abigail and Adiel Ward; Kaitlyn and Hunter Teague; and Dylan Handley.

He was also survived by his four sisters and brother-in-laws, Patsy and Richard Doucet of Jarreau, Sheila and Jack Self of Morganza, Judy and Ronnie Sproles of Torbert, and Tammy and Doug Bergeron of Jarreau; and one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Sheila Ward of Jarreau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lillie Ward of Jarreau; his two sisters Kathleen and Elizabeth Ward; and many aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Sproles Jr., Josh Ward, Daryl Smith Jr., Chris David, John Randy David Jr., and Gregory David. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Ward, Richard Doucet Jr., Ronnie Martin, Brandon Bergeron, and Kevin Sproles.
