Johnny F. Perot, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 30, 2022 comforted by family. This gentle, loving, caring and wonderful man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be forever missed.
Johnny was born in Campti, LA and attended Ouachita High School in Monroe, LA before joining the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he moved to Baton Rouge making it his permanent home. He worked his way into the finance business and opened his own company Atlas Credit in June of 1978. Johnny worked hard, played harder and laughed the hardest.
A consistent theme in Johnny’s life was his love of family and friends. He enjoyed being The Host of crawfish boils, Christmas parties, tailgate parties, BBQ’s, and Perot Pow-Wow’s. His favorite hobby of all was good music and dancing. Everyone wanted a dance with Johnny. He was a strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to all, who would give the shirt off his back and never met a stranger. His nieces and nephews were his “children” whom he loved and adored each and every one.
Johnny is survived by his siblings, Gene Perot of Baton Rouge, LA, George Matthew Perot (Elaine) of San Diego, CA, Joseph Carl “Pete” Perot of Bursly, LA, and Audury Hawsey of Monroe, LA; his special and dear friend, Shirley Bourque and her children; his many nieces and nephews that he treated as his own; and his caregiver, Gwen Landry. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ella Chaplin Perot; his father and step-mother, Veriste and Maude Perot; and his brothers, John Alvin Perot, Joseph Nelson Perot, James Veriste Perot, and Tony Perot.
A visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 9 am until funeral service at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the staff of Ollie Steele Burden Manor for their great care, and are sincerely grateful to Baton Rouge Hospice, who provided exceptional comfort and special care for him over the last year. Johnny will be forever remembered for his BIG smile, gentle eyes, huge heart, big hugs, and unconditional love. He left a special mark everywhere he went. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us. Save a dance for me Uncle Johnny.
