Joseph “Gene” LaChapelle passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022, at the age of 89. He was a native of Opelousas, LA, and lived there for most of his life. He was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA for the last 8 years. Gene is survived by his sisters, Beverly Amar (Ralph) and Leona Bonnette; and a host of other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Bernadette LaChapelle; brother, Lester James LaChapelle; sister, Bernice Ladete; niece, Chantelle Richard; and brother-in-law, Herman Bonnette. There will be a memorial gathering at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 11:30am until 1pm.
