
Jay Russell, 54, beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend went to be with his Lord and Savior January 25, 2014. He was born in Lafayette, grew up in Baton Rouge, and resided in Prairieville until his untimely death. Jay was a 1977 graduate of Broadmoor High School and an A.S.E. certified master tech for Ford and Dodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, playing his drums, riding his motorcycle and hanging out with family and friends. In the past year and a half, Jay was a moral supporter both artistically and personally for the band 4 Mob Jam who were all with him when he passed away. He will always be an honorary member of the band along with Todd, Jason, Mark and Persian. Jay is survived by his wife of 24 years, Cheryl Culton Russell, mother and stepfather Dawn and Dave McNeill, son Joey Russell, brothers Scott Russell, Richard Russell and wife Fran and their children Brennan, Meghan and Mari and James McNeill. Stepdaughters Laura Schesser and husband Steven and their children Logan and Avery, and Stephanie Jolissaint. Jay was loved by many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph W. Russell, Sr. (Joe) and maternal and paternal grandparents. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, Friday, January 31, 2014 from 4 pm until religious service at 6 pm conducted by Reverend Sam LoBello.
