
She was retired from Wilson's Jewelers, a native of Mount Hermon and a resident of Baker. Josie died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at her home at age 81. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, an avid LSU fan and a great cook. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes on Friday from 9 a.m. until the religious service in the chapel at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Troy Bankston. The graveside service will be held at Mount Hermon Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Friday. She is survived by a son, Rip Miller and wife Nancy, of Central; daughters, Gloria Miller Neames, of Natchez, Miss., and Deirdre Michelle Miller Hatheway, of Baker; stepmother, Joyce Musgrove Wascom; six grandchildren, Erica Miller Wallace and husband Vince, Mandi Miller Rhodes and husband Todd, Clifford "Trey" Neames III, Shane Miller and wife Jill, Jesse Hatheway and Kaitlin Hatheway; two great-grandchildren, Collin and Luke Miller; brothers, Gary Wascom and wife Nelda, and Rodney Wascom and wife Cheryl; sisters, Betty Cline, Kim Wascom McCullough and husband Rick, and Donna Wascom Rawls and husband Greg; numerous nieces and nephews, and a special group of cousins. Preceded in death by her father, Abner Carter "A.C." Wascom; and mother, Hazel Forrest Wascom. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital of Memphis, Tenn., or Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.
