

He went to New Iberia Senior High (NISH), USL, and graduated from LSU with a PhD in Physics. Julius worked in the oil industry with Conoco and Superior Oil. He joined the academic world at LSU with the department of Petroleum Engineering, rising to Associate Dean with the College of Engineering.
Julius loved to travel, especially to Europe. He loved his French heritage. He was fluent in Cajun French and spoke to anybody with a French background. Julius and Betty also visited France, Italy, England, Amsterdam, and even Russia. Their favorite travel companions were Mike and Pat Veazey. Julius was generous with his time and enjoyed helping people. He loved birdwatching with Betty and outsmarting the squirrels.
Julius is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Zulmae Langlinais. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Musumeche (his high school sweetheart); his brother, Ernest Langlinais (Jan); daughters Michelle Flechas (Ricky) and Laura Goldman (Eric); grandchildren Meaghan Smith (Max), Maddie Flechas, Robert Flechas, Camille Goldman, and Chloe Goldman; and great-grandchild Brooks Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Visitation at St. Aloysius, 2025 Stuart Ave, Baton Rouge, La 70808 on Thursday, December 4th, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. followed immediately by the Funeral Mass. Burial to follow at St. George Cemetery Mausoleum.
