

June Ferrell passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the age of 95. She was born in El Dorado, Arkansas and was a long-time resident of Baton Rouge. She was a retired elementary school principal with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. June was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Christian Life Fellowship where she taught Sunday School and Bible classes for many years. She was also involved in numerous missionary trips to Mexico, Russia, and Africa in addition to regularly holding Bible classes in local prisons. June is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David M. Ferrell and Bonnie of Baton Rouge and daughter Lisa Jane Ferrell of Atlanta, Georgia. In addition she is survived by two granddaughters, Amy Ferrell Stout Mike) of Baton Rouge and Katy Ferrell Greene (Eric) of Centerville Mississippi and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her former daughter-in-law Kathy Ferrell of Baton Rouge and sister, Jean Conly Wood of Many, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her husband Thad A. Ferrell. The family would like to acknowledge the dedication and friendship of her devoted friend Mary Elizabeth McGill, her dearest friend and loyal helper for many years. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Boulevard on Wednesday from 10:00am to 12:00pm until the funeral service at 12:00pm conducted by Dr. Jere Melilli. There will be a private 'family only" burial service following the funeral In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to Rancho Louisiana Ministries P.O. Box 8098 Hidalgo TX 78557. This mission work and orphanage in Mexico was very precious to June.
