Kenneth Ray Harrison was born June 28, 1935, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. He passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at his home. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peggy Reeves Harrison; and their three children, John Harrison and wife Tammy, Michael Harrison and wife Shirley, and Shari Harrison; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The son of a LSU professor, he grew up in Southdowns near the LSU Lakes. He attended Baton Rouge High School and LSU. He had a very strong Christian faith and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, where he was baptized, married, and saw all three of his children baptized. He was also a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff, Ark., and a member of Zoar Baptist Church of Central. He was preceded in death by his father, Perry Kips Harrison; his mother, Johnny Vesta Gardner Harrison; and brother, Floyd Perry Harrison. Pallbearers will be childhood and lifelong friends, Bill Maddox, John Hamberlin, Stanley Barnett, Dan Carroll, Jim Carroll, and Tommy Abbington. Also included are dear friends and family, Ed Edwards, Travis Harrison, Mike King, and Derrel Robinson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken's name to either the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Research Foundation at www.michaeljfox.org, Zoar Baptist Church, or a charity of your choice . Visitation at Zoar Baptist Church in Central on Thursday, Dec. 8, from noon to 2 p.m. Services will be conducted immediately following visitation by Dr. Kevin Hand and Associate Pastor Glen Miers.
