
Kenneth J. Tregre, 81, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at OLOL Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born on February 15, 1944, he was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. Kenneth was a pioneer in the early days of computer programming. He began his career when the field was just emerging, first working for Ethel Corporation before later establishing himself as an independent contract programmer. Over the years, he contributed his expertise to numerous businesses throughout Baton Rouge, leaving a lasting professional legacy marked by dedication, innovation, and integrity. He is survived by his brother, George Tregre; nephews and nieces Todd Tregre, Debbie T. Guidry, Erin T. Cavalier, Madeline C. Felker, Chad Coen, and Stephen Coen; and many loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Tregre and Gladys Bienvenu Tregre; his brother and sister-in-law, Terry Tregre and Jean Cockerham Tregre; his sister and brother-in-law, Sheila T. Coen and Edward Coen; and his nephew, Devin A. Tregre. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kenneth’s memory may be made to Cat Haven of Baton Rouge, reflecting his love for animals and his generous spirit.
