

Kody James McCord, age 56, passed away at his home on Monday, October 26th after a two and a half year battle with prostate cancer. Kody was born on February 18, 1959 in Santa Fe, New Mexico while his father was stationed there at the U.S. Public Health Service Indian Hospital. His family moved to Baton Rouge, LA in 1963, where he lived until he and his wife moved to Tangipahoa Parish in 1980. Kody has worked with his friend Jewell Sumrall and Diamond Scaffolding Company for the last 25 years. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Glenda Garrett McCord; daughter, Allison McCord; son, Dakota McCord; mother, Frances Sumrall McCord; two sisters, Rhonda Johnson and her husband Percy of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and Monica Eskine of Baton Rouge, LA; and brother, Tracy McCord and his wife Karen of Baton Rouge, LA. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. V. Lynn McCord; grandparents, J.P. and Lurline Sumrall, and L.W. and Mayme Lynn McCord; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Amos and Agnes Garrett. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., with Rev. T.W. Terral officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00am to the beginning of the service at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
