A retired Capt of the Baton Rouge Fire Department, and founder of McConnell Furniture Refinisher Inc. in Baton Rouge. He was a resident of Pride, and a native Triton, Tenn, he passed away Monday April 2, 2012, he was 90. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Anna McConnell, daughter Betty Jean Spafford, two sons Donald Wayne McConnell and wife Veronica, and James McConnell and wife Terry, brother Marvin McConnell and wife Jan, five grandchildren Brent and wife Valerie, Grant, Drew, Nicholas and Matthew McConnell, and a great grandson James Henry. He was preceded in death by his father J.D. McConnell, mother Edna Kennedy McConnell, two brothers Albert Wade and twin brother Clarence, and son-in-law John Spafford. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd. on Tuesday April 3, 2012 from 6pm to 8pm, visiting continues at the funeral home on Wednesday April 4, 2012 from 10am till service time at 12pm.
