

Lawrence W. Farris, resident of Denham Springs, and native of Baton Rouge passed away on May 18, 2010, just before his ninetieth birthday. He was a U.S. Navy veteran as well as past president of the Baton Rouge Homebuilder’s Association and a long time real estate broker. He developed St. Gerard Place and Villa del Rey. He also enjoyed being the owner of a National Championship hydroplane named the Miss Peg. “Ace” as he is fondly known is preceded in death by his father, Isiah Farris; his mother, Olivia Farris; and his brothers, Percy, Warren, and IJ Farris. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Santina “Sis” Spedale Farris; his daughter, Peggy Farris Jenkins and husband Raleigh W. Jenkins of Greenwell Springs; and his son, Larry D. Farris and wife Cecile of Baton Rouge; and his sister, Viola Kennison of Denham Springs. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Ryan P. Riley; Sean M. Riley and wife Candy Riley; and Courtney F. Henderson and husband Robbie Henderson; and extended family members Anna and Chad Broussard and their children. He was also proud of his five great-grandchildren. Lawrence was an avid LSU fan who rarely missed an opportunity to wear his favorite LSU socks! Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 10am with services to follow at 12. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to any local animal shelter or the Children’s Miracle Network.
