A native of Leon, Nicaragua, and a resident of Denham Springs, she passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at age 72. She moved to the United States in 1979. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 17, from 9:30 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. The Rev. Frank Uter will be presiding over the services. Leila is survived by her husband of 52 years, Enrique Cerda-Ramirez; children, Enrique Cerda and wife Yessenia, Sister Leyla P. Cerda, Congregation of St. Joseph, Maria Regina Guidry and husband Alphonse, Carmen Soledad Guidry and husband Ricky, and Carlos M. Cerda and wife Linda; and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Enrique F. Sanchez-Salinas and her mother Maria Concepcion Herdocia de Sanchez. Leila was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Parish. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Congregation of St. Joseph in Baton Rouge.
