Leland Hayward Johnson, Jr., 86, a native of Baton Rouge, LA and a resident of Central, LA passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014. A veteran of the United States Marine Corp, Leland served in World War II. He spent 10 years with the Illinois Central Railroad Company before finishing his career with Millwright’s Local 729. His hobbies included piloting, watching football, tinkering with automobiles and tractors but the love of his life was his family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Bohmer Johnson; children: Leland Thomas Johnson III, Johanna Hicks, and John Edwin Johnson and wife Tanya; grandchildren: Jordan Lee Johnson and Shaina Ray Daigle; sister Rita Heintze; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Leland Johnson; mother Juanita Lafuria and step-father John; and sisters: Edith Mae Day and Charlotte Vining. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 10am until time of service at 12pm. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
