Leonor Perez Alonso

"Leonor Perez Alonso, the seventh of eight children of Governor Israel and Maria Perez of Matanzas, Cuba. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Rolando J. Alonso, her high school sweetheart. She is survived by her five children, Roland Alonso (Kathy), Lucy Rivero (Herwin), Silvia White (Sam), Gerry Alonso (Melanie), and Ani Kline (Mike). Nine Grandchildren, Christopher Alonso, Steven Alonso, Kelly Alonso, Kristin Alonso, Michael Kline, Cristina Kline, Kyle Alonso, Thomas Kline, and Daniel Kline. Two Great Grandchildren, Ava Alonso, and Zoey Alonso. She attended Havana University and was a teacher at Alexandria Country Day School, St. Francis Cabrini School and YWCA Alexandria. She was a Catholic Daughter of America, a volunteer at Veteran's Hospital in Pineville and several nursing homes. She collected travel spoons, little foreign dolls, zebras, figurines, and loved to knit. Private Burial at St. George Catholic Church on Monday, October 24, 2016, with a gathering to take place for a memorial mass to celebrate her life at St. George Catholic Church, off Siegen Lane, at 11:15 AM on same day. Donation to the American Heart Association , in lieu of flowers, is requested.
