

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7. Lillian passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 2, 2011. She was born on Lakeview Plantation, Natchitoches Parish, on Aug. 31, 1916, and named for her grandmother, Angela Perrier. She attended school at the convent in Cloutierville until the third grade when she transferred to Natchitoches. After graduating from Natchitoches High School, she attended Northwestern State University for two years. She then transferred to LSU where she graduated in 1936. She was a member of Tri Delta sorority. She worked as a receptionist and legal secretary for the law firm of Taylor, Porter, Brooks, Fuller and Phillips. During this time she met Thomas Buffington Beale Jr. They married in 1951 and were the love of each others' lives. She was the organizing and first president of the Volunteers of America Auxiliary and worked with the organization for many years. Survived by two loving daughters, Rebecca Beale Browning and husband Reed, and Mary Patricia Beale, all of Baton Rouge; beloved grandchildren who affectionately called her "MiMi," Catherine "Christy" Meyers McLin and husband Jimmy, Glen Allen Meyers Jr. and wife Tonya, and John Patrick Meyers, all of Baton Rouge; and great-grandson who adored his "MiMi," Trey McLin, Baton Rouge. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, Barry Cohen, Brad Cohen, Kelly Cohen Lavercombe, Cathy Cohen Lepley, Barbara Anne Cohen, William R. Beale Jr. and Carroll Beale Dampier. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Buffington Beale Jr.; parents, Hyman Charles and Dorothy Wallenberg Cohen; sister, Sarah Dorothy Cohen; and brothers, Hyman Charles Cohen and Morris Simon Cohen. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Reed Browning, Jimmy McLin, John Patrick Meyers, Louis Voorhies and William R. Beale Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Glen Allen Meyers Jr. and Trey McLin. The family would like to thank the wonderful and loving staff at Heritage House Nursing Home. Visitation on Tuesday, April 5, from 9 a.m. until noon at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
