Lloyd "Tommy" Rowland

A loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away Monday, March 09, 2015, at the age of 75. He was a gentle soul and a prince of a daddy. As a young man, he served in the US Air Force. He was the Supervisor of Training at Paxon/Exxon and retired after over 38 years of service. After retiring he worked as a runner at Taylor Porter Brooks and Phillips, and at Enterprise Car Rental. He loved the Lord and was an active member of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church. One of his greatest joys was cooking and judging BBQ and serving on the National BBQ Association board. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Kay Davis Rowland; two daughters, Tara Spickard and husband, Paul, and Allison Jackson and husband Jay, and; seven grandchildren, Katie Lutz, Davis Lutz, Ethan Jackson, Emma Jackson, Paul Jacob Spickard, Tim Spickard, and Sean Spickard; three sisters, Glenda Fontenot and husband Robert, Jenny Hathcock and husband Tillman, and Jane Shepherd and husband Jay; many nieces and nephews; and his two furry girls, Heidi and Mia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ernestine Rowland; and brother, Eugene Covington Rowland and wife, Martha. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, from 5 PM until 8 PM and will resume on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, from 11 AM until funeral service at 12 PM conducted by Brother Al Young. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Paul Spickard, Jay Jackson, Brad Shepherd, Ethan Jackson, Davis Lutz, Jeff Davis, Mark Davis, and Paul Jacob Spickard. The family would like to thank the staff of the Carpenter House for their love and support.
