

Lola Macalusa Ancona, a native of Plaquemine and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at the age of 84. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, Dec. 29, from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Friday, Dec. 30, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Tom Duhé . Burial to follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Luke M. Ancona; two daughters and sons-in-law, Eva A. and Edward Chaffin and Martha A. and Faron Cedotal, all of Baton Rouge; one son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Kathleen Ancona, of Palm Beach, Fla.; one sister, Mary Grace Polito, of Cheneyville; a brother, Carroll Macalusa, of Baton Rouge; and three grandchildren, Erica Chaffin, of Indianapolis, Ind., Andrew Cedotal, of New York, N.Y., and Sean Ancona, of West Palm Beach, Fla. Preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Cedotal; her parents, Ignace and Eva Haynes Macalusa; two sisters, Josephine Macalusa and Rosalee LaFrance; and two brothers, Vincent Macalusa and Ignace Macalusa Jr. Mrs. Ancona, along with her husband Luke, are charter members of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Joseph Hospice Foundation, 1772 Highland Road, Ste. G, Box 241, Baton Rouge, La. 70810. Mrs. Ancona's family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Roy Kadair, Dr. Robert J. Kenney and Dr. Carl Luikart, along with the medical professionals with St. Joseph Hospice, especially nurse David Waite, our family, friends and team of caregivers.
