
Mayhall, Louella Fontenot 'Lou"A native of Ville Platte and resident of Lake Sherwood Village Retirement Center in Baton Rouge where she loved all of her fellow residents, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2015 at 12:55 am. She was a lifelong homemaker and stay at home mom. She was 94 years old and a quiet, gentle, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt and will be dearly missed by her family. In her younger days, before Macular Degeneration claimed her eyesight, she was a highly respected seamstress and loved to cook for her family. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Church visitation will be on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am with the Reverend Matthew McCaughey, celebrant. Interment will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge immediately following Mass. Survived by her only child, Sonya M. Smith, and her husband, Jim; grandchildren, Matthew Smith and Jillian O'Quin and her husband Casey; great-grandchildren, Anabel and Andrew Smith and Colin, Camille and Chloe O'Quin, one sister, Eloise Daughdrill of Lake Charles and niece Margaret Dupuy of Baton Rouge and her husband Michael, along with numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ambrose D. Mayhall, parents John and Cora Joubert Fontenot of Ville Platte. She was fifth born into a family of 10 girls and no boys. She was preceded in death by 8 of those sisters.
