

Margaret Farris Bayhi died on August 21st at her home with her loved ones. She was born in Greenville, MS on May 10, 1926 to George Elias Farris and Zula Ellis Farris. The family moved to Baton Rouge in 1936. She was a graduate of Baton Rouge High and attended LSU. She was married to Alfred A. "Buck" Bayhi for 72 years, ending with his death in March of 2018.
They raised their five children on Perkins Road: W. George Bayhi; W. Richard Bayhi (Frieda);
A. Dennis Bayhi (Lynn); Fr. M. Jeffery Bayhi and Jane Bayhi Wood (Mitchell) She was a major influence on her eight grandchildren: Matthew Bayhi (Amanda); Jennifer Bayhi Gennaro (Michael); Adam Wood; Adrienne M. Wood; Dennis Michael Bayhi (Kristen); Rebecca L. Bayhi; Lauren Bayhi Ledet (Patrick); and Michelle Bayhi Barbera (Logan) and her 10 great grandchildren, all who survived her.
Her life was defined by her hard work and catholic faith, which she instilled in her family. She was a founding member of St. Aloysius Church Parish and St. George Elementary School, where she worked assisting her sister, Sister Mark, CSJ (Mary Ann Farris) the first principal who established the school. Her time of employment at St. George School provided her with lasting memories she cherished for life.
Although she was beset with many health issues during her life, she bore them with dignity and without complaining. She showed her love to her extended family and friends with her cooking. She never knew how many would show up for her Sunday family meal, but she always had enough for all.
Margaret was proceeded in death by her parents, her sisters Eloise Farris Persac and Sister Mary Ann Farris, CSJ. She is survived by two brothers and their wives, Anthony E "Tinker" Farris (Rita); George E Farris, JR (Julia) and numerous nieces and nephew in the Ellis, Bayhi, Farris and Abide Families.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be grandsons Matthew Bayhi, Dennis Michael Bayhi, Adam Wood, special family friend Ted Powers, and nephews Marshall Mansour, Sam Mansour and Andrew Abide.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 23rd from 5:00 -7:30 PM at Rabenhorst on Government Street and will continue on Wednesday morning from 9:00 until the mass at 10:30 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave. To view the funeral service on line go to:
