
"Marie Louise Quirk Sims, a native of Washington, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at the age of 91. She was a retired math and science teacher, having taught at St. Amant, East Ascension, Woodlawn, and Denham Springs high schools. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, from 5pm until 7pm. Visiting will resume on Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 318 E. Moundville St. in Washington, LA, from 10am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, celebrated by Rev. Matthew Higgenbotham. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. She is survived by her children: Claudia Marie Sims (Cordova, TN) and Perry Sims and wife Nancy C. Sims (Baton Rouge). She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Bryan Sims and wife Kacie (Baton Rouge), Lauren Marie Butler (Cordova, TN), Stephanie Bourque and husband Russ (Addis, LA), and Louise Cecilia Butler Thompson and husband Jon (North Little Rock, AR); 6 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Camille, Logan, Judah, Asher, and Wes; as well as her brother, Jimmy Quirk (Erath, LA) and sister, Kathleen Lipari (Lafayette, LA). She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude H. Sims, Jr.; her parents: Robert Leo Quirk and Marie Louise Langlinais Quirk (Washington, LA); and siblings: Webb Quirk, Peggy Thibodeaux, Nell Byington, and Nona Ventre. Serving as Pallbearers will be: Oliver "Buddy" Byington, Bryan Sims, Russ Bourque, Joseph Butler, Jon Thompson, and Mark Lipari. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital.
