Marie Johanna DeRose Vitale passed away peacefully on June 10th, 2013 while surrounded by family and in the embrace of her beloved husband of 68 years. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 24th, 1925 and was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA since 1975. A homemaker, Marie forever put her family ahead of herself and was deeply loved by all. She was also a member of the St. Thomas More Legion of Mary and Sherwood Forest Homemakers Association. She is survived by husband Anthony Vitale; sons Tom and Fred Vitale (Judi); daughter Rosemarie Rinaudo (Ricky); brothers John, Ernest (Connie), and Al DeRose; grandsons Michael Vitale (Sofia), Joey Vitale, Bradley Rinaudo (Lexi), and Brandon Rinaudo; great-granddaughters Mia and Haley Vitale; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie is preceded in death by parents Vincent DeRose and Rosemarie Formosa DeRose, and her brother Carl DeRose. Special thanks to caregivers Eula Ricks and Gloria Springer. Visitation is Thursday, June 13th from 10am until services at noon at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
